I don’t even remember why I was there in the first place

I remember when I saw you first
sitting among the worst
The broken hearted, the cast out, the cursed
The sick, both physical and spiritual, looking to be nursed
5,000 of them
and every one of them hungry, and bursting with thirst
Mom didn’t give me much
I only had two fish and some bread
but for some reason I just felt lead
to share it with you instead
I only have enough loaves and fish
for a single dish
and my only wish was just to help you
to be near you
Cause I fear you, but it’s that good kind of nervous
Like when you know that something far outside of your own understanding is about to happen
The bread had gone stale
the fish were undercooked
In fact, they were quite raw
But as the disciples came back again and again
all my doubts began to thaw
You may not believe, but I know what I saw
The fulfillment of the law
and I got witnesses
Roughly 5,000
I myself will never understand but I had a hunch about that lunch
somehow I knew
when I gave that food to you
that something so simple as 5+2
would actually equal 5,000 with a remainder of 12.
12 like, guess who
the disciples gotta eat too
And that was that
the end
nothing left to see
and all I could think is
That little drummer boy ain’t got nothin on me
his ratta tat tat can’t compare to when 5,000 people sat and got fat
out of my little lunch pail
only the Son of Man could pull off something like that
this epic, one-man potluck
