Did you cheat on the test?
How are you feeling?
Honesty is not just answering questions truthfully. True honesty goes much, much deeper.
We can be "honest" by telling the "truth", but in our hearts, we're really just trying to get out of the conversation. True honesty makes us vulnerable because it reveals what is (and sometimes not) inside our hearts. And rather than trying to get out of the uncomfortable conversation, true honesty will dive into the awkwardness in the hopes of finding a solution, common ground, healing, or whatever both parties are looking for. True honesty rarely needs the question to be asked in the first place. True honesty waits for the right moment, and then (question or no question) reveals the truth with candor, humility and love.*
So, are you being honest? With your family, your business, your friends, yourself? Or are you just answering questions?
